Gemanafushi constituency MP Ilham Ahmed on Saturday night was elected as president of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
Ilham was elected after a closely fought contest with former president Ali Azim.

During the first round of voting, Ilham received eight votes while Azim secured four votes. The other candidate Abdul Muhusin Hameed contesting for the post received no votes.
